DELA S50 Brings high-end network performance to any streaming system.
DELA (formerly Melco) has announced the launch of the all new S50 Audiophile Network Switch, a new entry level model designed to bring high-end network performance to a wider range of streaming based hi-fi systems. The S50 shares the same sound first engineering philosophy as the middle tier S5 and reference level S1, but in a compact half-width chassis that integrates easily into modern hi-fi setups. Developed from the S1/S5 platform, the S50 introduces user configurable network optimisation and an integrated AC power supply at a more accessible price point.
KEY FEATURES
⦁ High performance architecture optimised for sound quality
⦁ Preconfigured for accurate, ultra-low-noise digital audio transmission
⦁ User configurable link speed from the front panel
⦁ 6 × RJ45 ports and 3 × SFP+ ports for copper and fibre connectivity
⦁ Integrated universal AC power supply with IEC input
⦁ Port disable function to release processing power to active ports and enhance sound quality
⦁ Compact half-width chassis suitable for hi-fi stand installations
Designed for Better Streaming Sound Quality
Streaming systems rely on the quality of the network signal they receive. Standard IT switches are unmanaged switches optimised for maximum speed, and place a burden on the network streamer to manage the data, limiting audio performance. The DELA S50 however is a managed switch, carefully programmed by the DELA sound engineers in Japan to optimise sound quality of even the most compromised data streams that may have been through many IT devices on the way to your home. Irrespective of the quality of the streaming data, the DELA S50 will ensure optimum performance from your Streamer and DAC or any network attached audio component.
The S50 simply connects between your router and your music streamer or server, improving signal quality across the playback chain. The new S50 is optimised for both local streaming and external streaming services, maintaining signal integrity.
Flexible Network Configuration for Any System
The S50 includes 6 x RJ45 ports and 3 x SFP+ ports, offering flexible copper and fibre connectivity, including fibre isolation for systems requiring ultra-low noise. Port link speeds can be adjusted from the front panel, allowing lower speeds for player outputs (reducing switching noise) and higher speeds for servers, libraries, and Roon processing. Unused ports can be disabled to further reduce processing load and improve sound quality.
Engineered for Low Noise and Practical Integration
Front panel indicators can be dimmed or switched off entirely for critical listening, and rear network activity LEDs can also be disabled to further minimise electrical noise.
For the first time in this class, the S50 features a rear panel IEC mains input with universal voltage compatibility, providing a clean ground reference and eliminating the need for external power supplies. A rear USB port supplies power for fibre modules or accessories.
The S50 is a natural match alongside Melco N100, DELA D100, and DELA E100 half-width components, offering both technical performance and aesthetic system integration.
ADOT MC02 Media Fibre Converter (FREE with DELA S50 and worth £479.00)
The ADOT MC02 media converter is supplied as a single converter kit for users of network devices which have a SFP input (units such as DELA S50, DELA N5, Melco S100 and S100/2 and many more...). This single media converter kit sits between a router and the network device (or switch) and galvanically isolates the data stream allowing a noise free. LAN connection.
The MC02 kit includes all components required to convert the Copper ethernet cable (RJ/45) connected to a router to a optical fibre connection direct into the SFP input on a network device but with a higher level of plug type linear PSU.
ADOT Details:
ADOT (Audiophile Digital Optical Technology) uses optical fibre to galvanically isolate the data signal between your router and network streaming devices. All connection options are available from devices with traditional RJ/45 (ethernet) LAN connections and for devices that have a direct SFP Fibre LAN input (such as Melco N5 or S100/2).
This clever little (but very important) system converts Copper ethernet (RJ/45) to a optical (fibre) data stream and the difference is far from subtle with a MUCH quiter background giving a much more accurate musical performance.
Why upgrade?
Analogue audio is delicate. Digital audio is just as delicate, plus digital data needs to be treated with the utmost respect to achieve the results that today’s high-resolution digital music files promise.
The reason is simple.
Behind the 0’s and 1’s, hi-fi electrical signals are still analogue, and just as susceptible to the influence from noise and interference. This additional noise damages the integrity of the pulse edges. This uncertain transition point, of a noisy pulse edge, results in timing errors and jitter.
The solution is simple too.
By breaking the conducted signal, we remove the interference and isolate the hi-fi system. This is done with fibre optics––now the data can be communicated to the digital components, but without any risk of introducing any conducted interference and noise.
