HiFi Rose SFP Connection Kit
The HiFi Rose SFP Connection Kit offers an optimised Fibre
Optic Connection for HiFi Rose Devices.
If you want a silent high-quality audio system, fibre optic
connections can be a beneficial enhancement and HiFi Rose are one of the few
companies in the audio industry that can support this connection method.
The HiFi Rose SFP
Connection Kit is designed for each SFP connection between the Hifi Rose RS130
network transport and the HiFi Rose RD160 DAC.
The HiFi Rose RS130 network streaming transport and RD160
DAC have a fairly unique connection option, which makes use of the emerging
world of “SFP fibre” connectivity. Thanks to the SFP sockets on both devices,
if you link them with compliant SFP modules and an appropriate cable, you can
benefit from longer distance transmissions and reduced noise.
At the moment there is very little awareness in the market
for this technology, so to make things easier, HiFi Rose are releasing a
kit that includes two modules and one cable. These are third-party devices
that have been tested by Rose and supplied in a nice gift box and are
a logical add-on for customers who are pairing the RS130 with the RD160.
Electrical Separation
Fibre optic cables transmit data through light which removes electrical
connections between your audio devices. This separation prevents ground loops
and minimises the chance of electrical noise and interference from other
connected equipment.
Enhanced Signal Quality
Optical connections are not affected by electromagnetic interference (EMI) and
radio frequency interference (RFI), which can compromise the audio signal when
using conventional copper cables. This guarantees a clearer, more pristine
signal pathway.
Long-Distance Signal Transmission
Fibre optic cables can send data over significantly longer distances without
degrading signal quality, unlike USB or coaxial cables. This is especially
advantageous in larger setups where the streamer and DAC are situated far
apart.
Minimised Jitter
Many current fibre optic systems feature sophisticated clocking technologies
that reduce jitter (timing inaccuracies in digital signals). This results in
more precise digital-to-analogue conversion and improved sound quality.
Removal of Electrical Distortion
In contrast to USB or coaxial connections, which can bring in noise from
devices like computers or streamers, fibre optic cables are not subject to
these problems. This leads to a quieter audio backdrop and enhanced dynamics.
Increased Flexibility for Audiophile Systems
Fibre optic systems often provide the option for modularity and upgrades, as
seen in configurations using optical USB hubs or transceivers like the HiFi
Rose RSA720. These setups accommodate multiple devices and extensive cable
runs while maintaining quality.
